1.25mm Ferrule Technology

The MDC is a two-fiber connector manufactured with proven 1.25mm ferrule technology used in industry-standard LC connectors.

Factor of Three

Three port MDC adapters fit directly into standard panel openings for duplex LC adapters, increasing fiber density by a factor of three.

Simple Push or Pull

Insertion and extraction of the MDC connector occurs with a simple push or pull on a flexible and robust strain relief boot providing functional density in very tight spaces.

Exceeds GR-326

The MDC connector is designed for optimal stability exceeding the requirements of Telcordia GR-326 for carrier or data center applications.

lcduplex
mdcconnectors
MDC connector is a Very Small Form Factor (VSFF) duplex optical connector designed for termination of single-mode and multimode fiber cables up to 2.0mm in diameter. It is a 2 fiber connector using proven 1.25mm LC ferrules, providing 3x density over LC. Adapters use the same port cut outs and sizes as LC, allowing current designs to transfer from LC to MDC. MDC solutions include uniboot style jumpers, harnesses, trunks, panels, and many pre-terminated MTP options.

Quick and Simple Polarity Reversal

boot-1

Separate connector housing from boot

boot-2

Rotate 180 degrees

boot-3

Re-attach boot to connector housing

The polarity reversal of the MDC connector is effortless and does not expose or twist delicate fibers during the process. The polarity can be reversed on-site by pulling the boot from the connector housing, rotating the boot to 180 degrees, and re-assemble the boot assembly back onto the connector housing. Polarity marks on the top and side of the connector and the MDC logo provide notification of reversed connector polarity. The polarity reversal of the MDC connector is effortless and does not expose or twist delicate fibers during the process. MDC Adapter Panels & MTP® Modules

Using the existing families of Classic, PRM, and LGX compatible panels or modules allow end users to upgrade in fiber density without the added cost of buying a new hardware enclosure or system. Simply swap out the existing panel or module to an MDC and plug in the additional fibers required.

Panels use an MDC adapter to accept a jumper or pre-terminated trunk on each side of the panel, up to 48 fiber per Classic panel.

Modules use a denser MDC adapter to achieve higher fiber counts over panels. A standard Classic MDC module provides 72 fibers, using 12 MDC adapter ports at 6 fibers each, with 6 MTP® ports on the back. Standard modules use pinned (male) MTP® connectors, and should be mated with non-pinned (female) trunk cables.

MDC Cassette
Pre-terminated MTP® modules provide a low loss transition from trunk cables to duplex patch cords. All modules are manufactured using enhanced optical fiber and low loss connectors.
